With its cold climate, the Upper Peninsula does not have a great diversity of cold-blooded vertebrates. Within this group, fish are undoubtedly the most important economically and ecologically. Nevertheless, the UP does have an interesting array of amphibians (frogs, toads, salamanders) and reptiles (snakes, lizards, and turtles).
